Sync of intake valves

I have an old 650 GS (surplus from the army). Any good way to sync the caburators without a vacuum device?

Would there be any reason why this

would not work?

It is a PVC tube with some hydraulic oil filling. It does work accurate, it does not even have to be as big as on the picture above.

Looks perfectly good to me. Manometers have been used for decades to tune multi-carb, multi port induction on piston engines. I used such a homemade device for my 1960 Triumph twin carb Bonneville with excellent results. Remember also, an accurate valve lash adjustment is necessary before the TB sync is performed.
