Fuel Indication

Ok I finally got around to putting the GS in the shop to have the Fuel indication fixed. The BMW shop replaces the fuel sense strips in the tanks. All seems to be working now. The good news is all parts and labor where covered be BMW warranty. The Bad news is it will probably happen again according to the BMW tech. (and I’ve read this before somewhere.) That It’s the ethanol we add in to fuel here in the U.S. It will mess up the fuel sense strips eventually. And no fix from BMW is in the works. They just don’t love us here in the U.S :( :wall:

Interesting. This must be the reason why the models from '10 got the old lever system back.

I wonder if there’s any way to retrofit the lever system on to my 2009.

Might try using Startron fuel additive, seems to help curb some of the negative side effects of the ethanol...Look for stations that do not have ethanol, I have located several....
Here is one link I have used to find non ethanol stations....

Thanks for the suggestion. I started using a using a similar anti- ethanol product. So far so good, I’ll let you know if it works out.
