Synthetic Oil -or- Racing oil with molybdenum bisulphide

Hello all,

I am coming up on my 24k service and I plan on chanking both my transmission oil and my FD Fluid.

I have narrowed the choice down to two Oils.

Motul GEARBOX 80W90 with "molybdenum bisulphide"

-or-

Motul GEAR 300 75W90 100% SYNTHETIC ESTER GEAR OIL

as it takes 1 liter to do both I plan on using the same Oil for the FD and the Transmission.

I would appreciate any opinions.

Thanks STROH80

While Motul makes good products, I use any name brand GL-5 75W-140 synthetic gear oil to which I add about 10% moly additive. Motul is just not readily available in my area and there are less costly alternatives.

Choose one:
- not will to fork out for the high price of Castrol SAF-XO?
- Castrol SAF-XO unavalaibke in your area?
- avoiding BP products? (Catsrol is oowned by BP)
:twink:

The Motul GEAR 300 75W90 carries specifications quite close to those of the Castrol SAF-XO, the later is only marginally better it seems (lower pour point and higher flash point). Therefore, if I didn't intend to use the caviar Castrol oil, I'd use the Motul Gear 300.
