K&N filter

Peter,
I have the K&N in the 1150 GSA, my F250 Diesel Truck, and wife's Explorer.

Reason- don't have to buy filters.

Does it improve performance- I doubt it. I think there was a test done on the RT site where it made no difference on the dyno. I just like not having to pay for new ones every time I get in the mood to clean it.

That with no need for replacement seems to be the only reason going for it. I hear that so often.

Tests done show the K&N to allow dirt into the engine. The OE air cleaner is reported to provide very good performance...I'll stick with it until something better comes along.

Hi, can you point me to those tests as I was about to fit a K&N Filter to my GS. K&N have been aorund for so long I am surprised to hear they don't perform.

I do know the test Def is talking about, albeit I can't find it at the moment. My conclusion was too was, that it's best sticking with OEM. They are not really that expensive, and frankly speaking cleaning such a reusable air filter is a PIA.

You being in Saudi-Arabia ... better think well about it.

I chickened out and took the K&N out - you guys scared me. But to be honest when you hold it up to the light there are tiny spots where you can see the light through it...
