Steering damper

Has anybody installed a steering damper installed to the GS? I am thinking about a solution like the one as mounted as factory equipment on the R 1200 R:

OK, I am curious? I have used stearing dampers on a number of bikes, espescially in race applications. I have 8,000 miles on my GSA and really have not felt I needed a damper. Are you riding that rough of terrain fast enough to need this? I never had a problem with high speed stability either??? ?-(

The GS is the most stabil bike I ever owned, any speed. I had been inspired by the arguments at VSRI to think about mounting one as an extra insurance. While doing research I found some have the Scotts mounted, but I would like to avoid that one.

Scott is the main one I have experience with on off road bikes...seems to work well...what are your reservations of it???

I am convinced it is the best, but I could not get used to the looks.

The steering geometry is very different between the Strom and the GS. the Strom is notorious for head shake at hyper velocity(over 110 MPH) My GSXR was more stable at 170 MPH than my Strom at 120 MPH. I know several folks that used the Scott to correct that issue. I pushed my loaded GSA up to 125 MPH with panniers and still stable. Only heard of a few folks with stability issues on GS. Each was attributed to bad tire or bad shocks...Another problem that causes instability is not balancing load on the bike... Old saying here in the States..." If it isn't broke, don't fix it!"
