Positioning of hand protector - ABS

BMW is sending stickers with a hair cross to customers which are to be fixed in the inside of the hand guards. This is supposed to help owners with adjusting the hand guards, so the levers ends would run freely and not touch the guard.

I like warning stickers and signs. Examples:
- Hot Coffee! (on the cup for hot coffee)
- Prepare to stop! (at traffic lights)
- Don't stand on the fence! Animals could eat you!
- Don't dry your cat in the microwave oven

Meanwhile BMW considers the next sticker:
- This product moves when used!

And the terminal sticker:
- If you do not understand, or cannot read, all directions, cautions and warnings, do not use this product.

The R 1200 GS hand guards from '08 onwards leave more room in front of the levers. The hand guard is shaped more straighter, means it does not wrap around the hands as much as the old version (up '07). The mounting hardware looks neat. It does not allow the hand guard getting twisted. And even if it would get twisted, the new straight shape would not allow for the shells touching the clutch or brake lever. For weather protection however the new version seems somewhat lesser functional.

So if you have the pre '08 hand guards, and you feel unsafe, I mean really really unsafe, because you really really do not not know that the levers should really really not run against the hand guards, phew, then here are some really really nice stickers to tell yet that really clearly:
