Inany case this double alarm idea sounds very interesting since I have
located an alarm system with a GPS tracker which sends an sms
notification of the position of the vehicle. Here's a link(unfotunately
in Greek)

Hi,
I just bought an identical device from a chinese trader on ebay.
It arrived 4 days after the order in Germany.
Here's the link:
OEM-Business (~185 US$)
It is best installed at a hidden spot with no metal obstructions towards the sky (GPS). The only cabling is to the battery, but it has a backup LI-ION battery that will last 48 hours even if the main battery disconnected. I installed it under the luggage tray that is under the passenger seat.
Additionally you will need a Mobile SIM installed in the tracker. It needs to be short message enabled and if you travel cross borders the contract should support roaming.
Mind that his is not an alarm system, but a tracking device!
All controlling is done via short messages from a mobile phone. This means you will have to send an short message to enable any functions. (Depending on your mobile contract this can become costly) The most suitable function for our purpose would be the "Move Alarm". This will cause the unit to send an alarm message to one or multiple mobile phones, if the device is moving from the location where the Move Alarm was switched on. In my tests the time until the message reached me, gave the motorcycle time to move about 200meters at normal city speed (~40km/h)
I'm sure it will not notify you if someone moves your bike just on a parking lot, due to the GPS accuracy being just arround 5 meters at max.
But if your bike is really stolen, it will help you to get notified, and track it's path, so Police can find it quickly.
Sunmmary: The cheapest tracking device for the worst case scenario. No help against vandalism and unauthorized touching. But if stolen, you can see where it goes and react immediately (Unless you are like my wife who always misses short messages

)
It would therefore be usefull to combine it with a sensitive alarm system.
If interesed in a scan of the manual, please send a PN
A much more complete solution is offered by Gemini Alarm Systems
http://www.gemini-alarm.de/php/inhalt/pr…ht.php?rubrik=9 . The device is called 7855-1 and is sold in Germany for 700 Euros. Here the GPS tracking is enabled automatically and even an alarm caused by moving or vandalizing the bike is sent to you mobile phone. For me this was too expensive. As I am not living in the Bronx, the cheap solution will probably do.
Regards
Frank
