Individualized Windshield

I ordered this shield from Nippy Normans. Service was 1. class. Within 24 h they confirmed with me the ordering details and the shipping rate, the shipping arrived only 4 (!) days later at my doorstep.

The screen is 50 cm tall (+ 16 cm over stock) and made from 4 mm thick acrylic material. It is the most massive screen I ever had. I expect it being too tall for me. I plan to cut it down to exactly match my needs. It is one of the few GS screens available on the market with tint. And not as wide as most of the others, I don't like barn doors. Price was BP 69.79 / US$ 135 / Euro 103

Nippy Normans vs. stock. Mister Normans is scaring me:

Rider view, N.N. not so scary:

Appearance comparison, N.N. pleasantly complements the GS:

Further enhancements

There is an MRA screen spoiler attachment available. It basically allows for adjusting the wind flow. I don't think that it would save an otherwise bad screen. But the possibility to fine adjust the wind flow is a definite plus.

There are different sizes and bends available to fit a variety of screens. A help to chose the correct version is here: click. This information proved to be useful. The brackets fit perfect to the N.N. without bending the screen or any other tricks.

From my previous experiments on the V-Strom with the MRA Vario Touring screen I knew the MRA spoiler makes the screen virtually a few cm higher than it really is. I decided taking the plunge by cutting the screen shorter by 5.5 cm. I used the powerful Dremel tool with a fresh cutting disk. This work is still no cakewalk, mostly because of the massive material. The resulting cut looked rough, it needs to be sanded in several steps, using finder sanding paper each time.

The cutting took away a lot of the scary barn door feeling. Now the screen is 44. 4 cm tall, that's about 10 cm taller than stock.

The adjustable Wunderlich screen mount:

Highest position works well for me. Also lesser screen wobble.

Comparison OEM:

Wunderlich Screensave Vario enforcement kit, S$ 80 / Euro 40 / US$ 52.
