Foot protectors to prevent wet feet?

I purchased the Wunderlich foot protectors locally for the price of S$ 130 / US $ 86 / Euro 63. The package consists of two plastic foot shields (from ABS I believe) and a confusing number of small and smallest parts

which looks like a tedious installation - and it is. The manual is no help either. It is brief and the description of items is inaccurate. An overview drawing would help a lot. Tip: I recommend mounting all parts direct to the foot protectors first, and not to the bike as what is stated in the manual. That way it can be more clearly seen what belongs where.

I mounted the foot shields with my Motech spill guards. That is a good fit on the left side

but not so for the right side

I had to bend the brackets quite a lot. The reason for the mismatch is, that the right cylinder is located a bit more to the rear, but the Wunderlich brackets are the same lengths left and right. One cm more reach would help. But I can't quite blame Wunderlich, since the foot shields are actually meant to go with the Hepco & Becker bars, or with no bars mounted.

A few overview pics

My Conclusion

To my opinion these pieces are totally overengineered and unnecessary complicated. On the plus side they do sit stabil on the bike. Ideally it should be two simple plastic dishes from flexible softer plastic material, which would have nipples, to be removable mounted to some fixed installed rubber grommets.

It certainly looks not exactly smart, but it is not as bad as I thought. And it works for wet roads without rain fall perfectly well. For rain riding they rather delay the boots getting wet, since some water still is pushed over the cylinders.

RE: Wunderlich Foot Protectors

Here is how it looks after riding in moderate rain for about 10 minutes

Foot protectors broke on the first gravel road I travelled in Australia. The other one got a crack as well, and fell off shortly after.

This Wunderlich product is not for a bike like the GS. Euro 63 wasted.
