Nice bike, would be nice to have. Thing is I wonder about the differences to the 1200GS. Both bikes seem to be quite similar.

8-) The 800 is geared more for off road, lighter...I rode one and my first thought is a 650 on steroids!!! It was not the highway bike my R1200 is, but still did real well. Would be a great second bike for the off road...I am speaking for me at 6'5" 325 lbs. I would not want to load it up for a long trip, but a smaller person could without efffort...

For me it is not that much lesser uncomfortable than the R 1200 GS, except the seat. I am 1.75 m (5'8").

What it did not give me is this certain R 12 GS feeling. Don't know how to say it, it makes every other motorcycle I rode seem like a toy. Don't know if it is only me. But I am sure after a few days I would feel right home on the F 800 GS.

I agree, for me also several other bikes semed like "bike for kids". Last year I had the chance to ride some days a K1200LT, not really a small bike. But even there I felt misplaced. Of course you can get used to a lot of things, but today I would always prefer the 12GS.

Wouldn't really label this an ADV until they put some crashbars on it 8)

Touratech claims the stability this tank provides is as good as crash bars.
