Bike 2006 12GSA with spec as given on above post.

In my opinion, loud exhausts give the impreesion that you are going faster than with a quiter exhaust just because of the noise. The engine semed to rev easier and faster.Noticable pull at about 4000rpm, would hit the limiter very easily. I got it on a dyno and it showed 101 bhp at the rear wheel.

I will try and attach a graph of my 2006 12GSA (in red) and a newer model standard 2008 12GSA(in blue)

When I test drove the newer 2008 12GSA I couldn't see any power improvement , the salesman of course was telling me that I didn't drive it hard enough. I assure I did, but looking at the graph of the dyno my older 2006 12GSA was performing well.

When I sold my 2006 bike, I took off the extras off it and sold it as standard spec, I had to deliver it to the new owner which was about 200kms from me. There was a noticable drop in power at around the 4000rpm mark, and the engine didn't rev as freely. However the bike sounded lovely and quiet.

When I run in my new 2008 GSA (I only have it one week)I will fit the Akra , K&N, Power snorkel, iridium plugs and a Power Commander to it. I hope it will out perform my 2006 one. I feel that the gearbox is silky smooth, has it been modified / changed?

Gearbox: In 2005 the gear levers has been shortened, in 2007 the gear switching drum has been modified, for 2008 there are bigger bearing diameters and further optimised switching kinematics.

I am quite happy with the quiet and smooth acoustics of the stock exhaust. Still, Akras are always something special.

Akro

Fitted to my 2008 12GSA the Akro twin race system, k&n, power snorkell and a Power commander with a switch for changing the maps while driving. have 2 maps installed, one for a lean economy/Touring drive (102bhp /80ftlb torque at rear wheel )and one for a Sportier drive. (107bhp /85ftlb torque at rear wheel) I like it.
