tryes,tourance, sidewall failure

I saw on a tread posted by Peter headed tourance recall and would like to know more.

In 2005 I bought a r1200gs and covered 55000km on 3 front tyres on a fair distribution between paved and unpaved without a problem. In 2009 I bought a r1200gs adv and have twice fitted new tourances where the front trye has failed within 2000km. The problem that I am getting is a bulge forming on the sidewall. My local motorad dealer and tyre outfits say that it is dangerous.

My question is , is this a known problem and how has metzler dealt with it in other countries. Our local distributer wont entertain debate.

Hello Digdirt, the recall is only for a certain batch, and from the problem description it does not match with your problem
http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/TouranceRecall_COM_en.page .
Also, I did never hear of a problem with bulging sidewalls on front Tourances.

If I were you I would take a picture and send it by email to Metzeler directly asking for their comment.
