Big John from S. Mississippi USA. 100mi North of New Orleans LA. I have owned a total of 20 motorcycles in 19 years of riding. 5 of which have been BMWs. There has been 7 Hondas, 7 Kawasakis and 1 Triumph.
I currently Own an 2008 BMW R1200GSA-ADV which is 29months old. I also own a 2009 Triumph Speed Triple which is 14months old.
Found this website out of interest in the Final Drive Poll. Learned of it from ADVrider.
All of the BMWs I have owned (2xLT,2xGS,and 1xRT) had problems at one time or another. The only issue this bike has had so far is the fuel level strip having to be replaced at about 10K miles and is acting up again as we speak. Bike has 18.2K on it now. NONE of the Hondas,Kawasakis, or Triumph I own had any issues. All of them except 2 were purchased brand new.
Great to be aware of another source of information, but usually spend most my time on ADVrider.
Other than that, New Orleans Saints Season Ticket Holder, Own a powerboat and love summer weekends on the Tickfaw River in Louisiana, MotoGP,F1,WSB,AMA Superbike and Supercross.
Have have been through alot of bikes and lost alot of money trying to find the 1 that will do it all. Finally I think I have the combination that works for me. Truely Love the GS more everytime I ride it. Even though in the back of my mind I dont trust it. The Triumph is a great B-Bike. Its plenty fast and fun, lets just call it an old mans sportbike.
