Winter Gloves

This is a brief excerpt from a test report for winter gloves from MOTORRAD edition 07/2007. The gloves were tested for protection (safety), cold protection, wearing comfort, crafting, and water and wind tightness.

1. Held Freezer - 95 points (from 100) = sehr gut

Highly recommendable winter gloves convinces with excellent materials and cold insulation. Comfort is very good as well - that is how longer winter rides still can be fun!

2. Dane Basic GTXII - 94 points = sehr gut

Very much the same test results for insulation, and similar excellent comfort and crafting than the Held glove. A slightly higher price costs it one point.

3. BMW Pro Winter - 88 points = sehr gut

The strength of this glove is the wearing comfort, it has best comfort from all tested gloves. Crafting and materials are very good as well. In terms of safety features it falls a bit short against the above top 2 gloves.

4. Dainese Jerico - 82 points
The most expensive glove in this test field is very well crafted, and testers liked the quality of materials used. But the cold insulation is not the strength.

5. HJC Pool Blizzard - 78 points
The Blizzard offers a brilliant value-for-money ratio, and very good insulation. Avoid asphalt contact with this glove, it's weak point is abrasion resistance.

6. Hein Gericke Pathan - 74 points
Functions well, the price is right, but comfort sufers as the cut is a bit clumsy.

7. Racer Voyage - 73 points
Basically a very good glove, points had to be deducted for water leakage.

8. Bering Antarctica - 68 points
Light gloves which are not bad but more suited for riding outside the winter season, because of lacking cold protection.

9. Orina Windsor - 65 points
Cheapest glove in this test field with decent comfort and very good insuation. Totally fails in the leakage test.

10. Richa Ice Storm - 62 points
Good insulation. But crafting details, safety and materials are not up to standard.

11. Spidi NK 2 - 60 points
Unsuitable cut (i.e. finger too short), below average crafting, and water leakage leaves nothing much for recommending this glove.
