BMW Rallye 2
S$ 150 / USD 100 / Euro 75.
This is one of the very few summer gloves which is not made from low grade leather. It uses a one piece kangaroo leather for the insides. The seams of patched together leather pieces are often the weakest point.
The comfort and fit are very good. Excellent feel for the throttle, too. They could skip however the to my opinion useless doubling with artificial material on the palm. I would much prefer metal rivets with a Nomex underlay.
The upper part is mesh material which probably will not hold much in a crash situation. But the most likely impact is on the inner hand. My greatest complaint is the crafting of the glove.
It is made in China. I do expect a glove of this price to come with nothing else than perfectly straight seams, and even cutting. The glove costs the same as the previous model Rally 1, which was made well (Made in Germany). Seems BMW enjoys the cost advantage of producing in China, without giving the savings to the customer.
And a last point, I think they could to get rid of these redundant rubber mouldings. What for are they, except design?
Conclusion
The price BMW asks for the Rallye 2 is hilarious. If there was any other summer glove that uses high quality construction and materials, I'd be off in a second. Unfortunately that is not the case.
This is the most comfortable and best breathing hot weather glove which I ever had. For at least 30 % less I would not say anything. But for the asking price they should be better, especially there could be more safety features.
