MZ deal finally closed

The traditional German motorcycle manufacturer MZ (historically DKW) is finally back in German hands. Ex-racers Martin Wimmer and Ralf Waldmann bought the company for a sum which is believed to be in between 4 to 5 million Euro.

The story can be read here (German language): clicky . Online translator: clicky.

I am glad that a name which once had a similar sound like BMW is now brought back to life. The MZ story after Hong Leong took over was a master piece for a lesson how a company can not work. I hope one day the Asian madness will end. They are mostly not ready for prime time. Even if 'they' pump Trillions into China, it will not help anything unless the plan is getting rid of your own countries funds.

I've read rumours that another German automaker might be looking to get into the two-wheeled market soon. Although the rumours have been circulating for a few months, it seems VW may seriously be considering buying MV Agusta since current owner HD is having some serious financial issues.

Two-wheeled Passat, anyone? :D

Cheers,
Luc
