Now that looks a lot better already. Seems the Feb sales suffered from the extreme cold and hard winter.

To put this in proportion:
- BMW reports 16 % growth (over the first 6 month 2009)
- 5 BMW models ranking in the top 10 sales
- more than 22 % market share, with almost 10 % gap to 2., Honda

At the moment it looks like a war where one side only fights. BMW ought to be very worried about the long term effect to the market.

Peter,

thank you for these impressing figures. It is a pity that the competition is that weak, especially in the market of the large Enduros. Hope this will change sometimes. Alternatives would probably be very much appreciated by most GS-buyers.

Greetings

Alex

I guess most people, including myself, are quite happy with the GS. I like it very much, mainly because:

- the technology level (e.g. brakes, power train, electronics) is quite high and difficult to find elsewhere
- for me, the build quality is ok, at least, afaIk, better than of the most Japanese and Italian bikes.
- The bike fits taller persons (like me with over 190 cm)
- for amateurs like me, it offers satifactory ride charachteristics

So far, I can't complain. Up to now (milage 25 kkm), I had no problems (no rust, no breakdowns) with the bike. BMW benefits from it's experience in car builiding (CAN BUS, ABS, overall quality, buying power) and therefore seems to be one step ahead. Since Honda has nothing to offer and seems to be sleeping deeply, maybe Suzuki could sometimes become an alternative (with the help of VW). I read that Mr. Piech is interested in the bike market.

Many people, like me too, would like to have alternatives just to ride more individually. It is strange to see on some days hundreds of GSes in the Alps. Guess it's a vanity thing.

In most cases, it is not a pleasant situation to be the market leader against weak competition. The buyers demands rise and rise. Wasn't that the reason that Microsoft has once helped Apple just to keep some competition alive?

Greetings

Dare to be different?

Tops sales are not always the main reason for buying. Being different sometimes requires more than just what is common and popular; you need to have something more and something better.

There are people, simple as they are, who would just like to be on the side lines unnoticed and figuratively unseen.

But there are also people who always wish to be catching attention and to be over the top. It’s not bad to be so in any way. It’s only a matter of knowing how to carry you.

Being engaged in motorcycling is something different because this, whether for a hobby or for sport has a different set of far from other sports. Motorcycling, for one, necessitates a Motorcycle boots for the total protection of your feet, ankles and legs. When you ride, it cannot be avoided that you may sometimes fall or be hit by debris or object along the road and so your boots will protect form such.

For motorcycle boots, one company from Italy has been very successful in leading the market in the production of motorcycle boots. Gaerne boots give emphasis on the overall performance and adhere to provide the essence of what good boots are supposed to be.

Alongside the boots are the other components making up the full motorcycle apparel and gear. All these will also help protect the rider and essentially provide all the comfort and convenience that the rider needs while on the road. In this concern, we have to get the products of Tourmaster for quality and stylish apparel from head to foot.
