Chinese Cars

.. flood at the moment several of the markets in Europe.

The German automobile association ADAC crash tested the model BS6 from Chinese self declared premium brand 'Brilliance'. Crash test at 64 kph / 40 mph:

The passenger safety cell was destroyed, the front chassis pushed into the cabin. The ADAC commented a real driver and passenger would have almost no survival chance. On top of that the door could only be opened with heavy tools, unnecessarily lengthening the rescue time.

The BS6 got 1 out of 5 stars.

Anecdote: It was remarked representatives from European car makers who watch such tests get long faces, if one of their model has only 4 stars awarded, instead of all the 5.

RE: Chinese Cars

The Belgium importer has stopped selling the car. All customers can return it for a refund.

It is not enough to blindly copy an item. It will still take them at least one more generation to really understand.

RE: Chinese Cars

... and their tires:

German magazine "Auto, Motor und Sport" tested six Chinese car tires against a Pirelli tire, just to see where the Chinese stand. All six failed. E.g for wet braking, the Pirelli needed 41 m from 100 - 0 kph, nne of the Chinese tires was bale to achieve less than 50 m. They called the results depressing. Moreover the Chinese tires had hardly any side traction, the steering precision of the test car suffered relevantly. Two of the six tires also burst during the high speed tests. The magazine called the results 'alarming'.
